Description:
This 6 to 10 feet tall flowering shrub is grown for not only its showy, fragrant, fringe-like, pink flowers, but also its lush, burgundy foliage which makes it perfect for large scale borders. Too often I have seen this plant used where it will either get too big for its location or will be burned back by chilling winter weather. This plant thrives in zones 8 and 9 and may do ok in warmer areas of zone 7, but no more. Soil should be moist, well-drained and acid and this plant dislikes high pH's. Sun may be either full or part-shade. Pruning is not necessary unless to remove dead branches.
